This week we are honored to share our conversation with environmental activist, economist, writer and orator, Winona LaDuke. LaDuke is a living embodiment of earth activism and Indigenous sovereignty and a long-time inspiration to the For The Wild team.

As the Founder and Executive Director of Honor the Earth, Winona is fighting against pipelines while simultaneously creating tangible solutions for oil independence. She is rooted in the White Earth Anishinaabe Nation located in Becker, Clearwater, and Mahnomen counties of north-central Minnesota and she’s the founding member of the Turtle Island Slow Food Association], the first Indigenous-led slow food association in the world.

Winona is currently raising funds to purchase Winona’s Hemp and Heritage Farm in Osage, MN where she has plans to cultivate acres of industrial hemp and foster the next generation of Anishinaabe land stewards.
