Hello wild dears,

We have news for you! After three years of inhouse writing, editing, illustrating, designing, and tending, we can finally share: our debut print book Slow Earth Companion: Rooted Wayfinding in Fragmentary Times will be arriving this fall!

What is this all about? Well, for more than a decade, For The Wild has been a place where conversations have grown into friendships, deeper inquiry, and ways of understanding our relationship with the living world. This anthology gathers many of those threads into a single volume, bringing together essays, poetry, practices, and sensorial drawings by Krista Dragomer into a richly layered visual experience.

Published by Set Margins’, Slow Earth Companion book is a cyclical world to return to again and again. It was created as a companion for these fragmentary times, inviting moments of reflection, grief, awe, and renewed connection with the world around us.

Contributors include Tyson Yunkaporta, Bayo Akomolafe, brontë velez, Patricia Kaishian, Jacqueline Suskin, adrienne maree brown, Antonia Estela Perez, Jarod K. Anderson, Dori Midnight, Kurt Russo, Pavini Moray, Michael Meade, Prentis Hemphill, Donna Haraway, and so many others who have shared time with us over the past decade.

It is now available for preorder via Set Margins’ Publishing located in Netherlands. It will ship worldwide from Europe in September. If you’re in North America, this means extra shipping costs, but you will also be among the first to get the book in hand! This fall, we'll be taking Slow Earth Companion on the road, and we'd love to shape the journey alongside the communities we'll be visiting.

We're looking for bookstores, libraries, farms, gardens, cafés, community spaces, and other gathering places interested in hosting a reading, conversation, workshop, or shared meal. We hope each stop feels rooted in the people and places that make it unique.

These relaxed events are an invitation to gather earth loving companions in your area, creating time to be together, listen, and wander deeper into the questions held within the book.

As a grassroots tour, we'll be traveling on a very modest budget. If you'd like to support the tour, we'd be grateful for help with lodging, shared meals, childcare, airline miles, or connecting us with local organizers and values-aligned venues who would enjoy hosting an event like this.

Our first stops include the East Coast, West Coast, and hopefully Europe, with more destinations taking shape as invitations arrive. If you'd like to host an event or help us connect with your community, we'd love to hear from you. And please, share with your near and dears. Let’s celebrate and create meaning together.

Sitting at the Feet of Glaciers

This December, Ayana will join brontë velez at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur for a week-long workshop, Sitting at the Feet of Glaciers.

Inspired by time they spent with glaciers in Alaska (see CAN I GET A WITNESS), the gathering explores what becomes possible when we stay with a place long enough to be changed by it. Together, participants will spend the week walking, listening, sharing meals, and making space for grief, wonder, and relationship with the land to unfold at a deeply human pace.

The workshop is intentionally limited to 35 participants, creating room for meaningful conversation and connection.
